In late June a group of us made a quick trip down to Verona to eat some fabulous Gelato and watch the Aida Opera. This was my second visit to Verona but my first to see an Opera. The open air arena set a beautiful atmosphere that was only slightly tarnished by overly animated Italians and cramped seating arrangements. The later both helped lead to me spilling wine on a lovely Italian family sitting in front of us. Other than the one incident the trip went well and it was incredibly relaxing to spend with our friends. The weather was hot and fabulous, the food, drinks and gelato tasty and satisfying. I’m definitely looking forward to future Operas in Verona, and gelato ice eating.
We watched Aida on opening weekend to a sold out crowd. It was packed full of people, but the crowd completely hushed when the singers hit the stage. I never knew a human voice could project so far to the point where we, up in the nose bleed section, could hear it.
My first trip to Verona, I was recommended to try this place. It was so good that I went there several times during my trip and I was so excited to go and eat it again. The gelato was still fabulous but I think I ate too much at one go :D.
